Another song many may not realize is a Robert Johnson original is “Sweet Home Chicago.” It’s numerous covers by Blues titans, overshadow the simple acoustic version recorded in 1936. One famous version was immortalized on film in the “Blues Brothers Movie” (1980).

The late Robert “Junior” Lockwood is the only known student of Robert Johnson. Johnson reportedly taught the young Robert guitar during his relationship with Lockwood’s mother. Hence his nickname “Robert Jr.”
